Songler is a music quiz in the spirit of Heardle and Songless. Everyone hears the same song: half a second at first, and if nobody knows it the snippet grows to 1, 2, 4, 8 and 15 seconds.
There are thousands of songs: hits by decade from the 1960s to the 2020s, rock, pop, hip-hop, electronic, K-pop, Latin, jazz, classical, film, game and anime music, Eurovision, plus Russian pop, Russian rock and rap, Soviet pop and Ukrainian music.
Play alone or with up to twenty people. Whoever knew the song from the shortest snippet, and fastest, scores the most.

Tactics and tips
- The first half second is the sound: the voice, the guitar, the synth. It often gives away the era and the artist.
- Not sure of the song but you know the artist? Name their best-known one: if it is not that, you still get a consolation.
- A skip costs only the points of the try — better to hear more than to guess blind.
- The snippet is usually the middle of the song or the chorus, not its start: think choruses.
Common mistakes
- Waiting — points melt from the first second.
- Searching for a half-remembered title: type the artist instead, the suggestions find the song by it too.
- Giving up early: even the last try is worth 100.
Frequently asked questions
Where do the songs come from?
From Deezer: its editors’ playlists by decade and genre, and the most played tracks of well-known artists. The snippets are Deezer’s 30-second previews, loaded straight from its servers.
Why does the snippet not start at the very beginning?
The previews Deezer allows others to play are 30 seconds it picks itself — usually the middle or the chorus. A whole song from its first second cannot be played without a subscription.
How is the score calculated?
Named on the first try — 1,000, then 800, 600, 400, 250 and 100. Named another song by the same artist but never this one — 100 as a consolation. The best three get +100, +60 and +30 for their place, and time costs up to 200 from the first second.
Is this a Deezer game?
No. Songler uses Deezer’s open API and previews but is not affiliated with Deezer.
